James Corry explores the case for law and order. Civil order is threatened if the law is not respected. But why should we respect it? Does it really merit obedience? Are we sometimes justified in disobeying the law? Corry thinks some disrespect for the law as a 'sanctified tablet' is healthy, but how much of it is tolerable? Is our legal framework really threatened by disobedience, and it if collapsed, would this be a good thing?

These Massey Lectures deal with the growing disrespect for law in our society. James Corry shows how meaningful change can be achieved within the law.
