Girl died in December after cardic arrest in home at Erin Ridge Road S.E.
Calgary police say the death of a four-year-old girl last month is being investigated as a homicide.
Emergency crews were called to a home on Erin Ridge Road S.E. at 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 19 for a report of a girl in medical distress.
"Olive Rebekah Oluwafemi was in cardiac arrest and wasn’t breathing when crews arrived. She was transported to a nearby hospital, but was pronounced deceased a short time later," police said in a news release on Friday.
Police originally described her death as suspicious but now say it was a homicide. Officers are not releasing the cause of death.
"The injuries that caused her death were inflicted within the family home, and were not the result of play, an accident such as falling down stairs, nor medical intervention consistent with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)," police said.
Police say the little girl's parents are not co-operating with the investigation, but they are not calling them suspects.
