Ava DuVernay is the director of Selma, a film about a pivotal moment for Martin Luther King Jr. — when he led thousands of non-violent demonstrators from the city of Selma to Montgomery, Alabama in 1965.
DuVernay has already been nominated for a Golden Globe award for best director, and many think she will be nominated for an Oscar next week. Today she joins guest host Gill Deacon to talk about her film and its relevance to today's headlines.
