From the Best of Q, This American Life producers Sarah Koenig and Julie Snyder join guest host Piya Chattopadhyay to discuss the wildly popular radio show's first spinoff, Serial, which debuted in October and wrapped up on December 18.
The masterfully crafted podcast tells one story over the course of an entire season; specifically, the lasting repercussions of a Baltimore murder that happened in 1999.
Koenig and Snyder reflect on the popularity of serial (versus episodic) storytelling, why they were drawn to this particular murder case, and the challenges of telling a story as it's unfolding.
