It's been just over a decade since photographs of U.S. soldiers abusing prisoners(external link) of Baghdad's Abu Ghraib prison shocked the world. Although the identities of many former detainees remain unknown, some have come forward to share their stories.
American photographer Chris Bartlett is among those hoping to humanize those who suffered trauma in the hands of the U.S. military. He joins Jian to discuss his portrait series Iraqi Detainees, which features former prisoners of Abu Ghraib.
"None of these people were ever charged with anything and many of them, even after release were never told why they were picked up in the first place," he tells Jian.
