Last May, in her only Canadian broadcast interview, Amanda Knox spoke to Anna Maria Tremonti about the price she paid for that accusation, about her eventual acquittal -- and about the demand by Italy's top court for her to stand trial again.

Earlier this month, an Italian court set the date for Amanda Knox's retrial . It's scheduled to begin September 30.

We've been talking today about the Amanda Knox case -- as it's become known -- but it's really the Meredith Kercher case. Victims often fade into the shadows once a trial begins.

During the long ordeal, Meredith's relatives gave news conferences to try to convey their loss. She was taking a course in modern history and political theories at the University of Perugia before she was killed. And shortly before the murder, she appeared as an enigmatic presence in a friend's music video.
