The trial of a man accused of killing a toddler continued in a Regina court Monday. Jurors learned more about the energetic personality of the child, Natalia Marie Dawn Shingoose.
She was found dead in her bedroom in June of 2012. She was just a few days shy of her third birthday.
Adam Cyr, 34, is on trial, accused of second-degree murder. Cyr was living with the child's mother at the time.
The girl's father, Sheldon Shingoose told court Monday that the last time he saw his daughter was June 19, 2012.
He described a rambunctious toddler who was acting normally.
Shingoose cried when he was shown photos of the girl's body.
Jury members also heard from the maternal grandmother of the girl who said she was with the girl's mother and the child for a lunch at McDonald's as an early birthday treat.
Judy Trevors said the little girl appeared full of energy.
"[She was] having fun, doing her own thing, exploring," Trevors testified, describing the child as "very rambunctious [and] eager to play."
The trial continues.
