Health officials say residents who are bitten or scratched should go to the health centre
Dog owners and residents in Kugluktuk, Nunavut, are being warned that animals in the community could have contracted rabies.
In December, a stray puppy in the community was adopted and brought south to Saskatchewan, where it tested positive for the deadly viral disease.
It's not known where the rabies originated but it's possible other dogs in the community have it.
A release from the Department of Health warns residents not to approach any dogs that behave strangely.
It says people who are scratched or bitten should go to a health centre immediately.
There are vaccinations available in the community.
