Photos of a dead toddler were shown to jury members who are hearing evidence at the trial of Adam Cyr. He is accused of second-degree murder in the case.
Cyr, 24, is on trial in Regina in relation to the youngster's death. There's a court ban on naming the girl, who was 2½-years-old when she was found dead in a Regina home in June of 2012.
The first photos, taken by the forensic unit of the Regina police, show the child lying on the floor in her room beside her bed and covered in a blanket. Another photo shows the youngster without the blanket.
There are visible dark red marks and signs of bruising on her right upper back, her right hip and the right side of her head.
As the photos were shown, Cyr appeared to be shaken by what he saw and directed his eyes to the floor of the courtroom.
The jury also heard that she was found with a teddy bear beside her.
Investigators also testified about how they examined such things as garbage containers believed to be from the home and what they found. Among the items were a child's shoe and a pillow case.
The trial continues Wednesday.
