Nunavut, N.W.T. have Canada's highest murder rates per capita

Nunavut’s murder rate for 2013 was just under 8x the national average.
New data from Statistics Canada shows Nunavut had the highest murder rate in the country last year, followed by the Northwest Territories.
In 2013, there were four murders in Nunavut, down from five in 2012.
When compared against the size of the population, Nunavut’s murder rate for 2013 was just under eight times the national average.
That’s down slightly from about nine times the national average in 2012.
The N.W.T. had only two murders in 2013, also down from five in 2012.
The N.W.T. had the second-highest murder rate in the country, with about three times as many murders as the national average in 2013, and about seven times the national average in 2012.
Yukon had no murders in either year, giving that territory the lowest murder rate in the country.
