Taradale sex assault: Brothers charged by Calgary police appear in court

Corey and Cody Manyshots face numerous charges after teenager assaulted in alley, house earlier this month
Two brothers accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl in northeast Calgary more than a week ago made a brief court appearance Monday morning.

Police said the teen was approached by two men while waiting at a bus stop in Taradale late at night on Nov. 14.
She was dragged into an alley and sexually assaulted before being taken to a house in Martindale where she was held overnight and repeatedly sexually assaulted, police said.
Corey Manyshots, 25, and Cody Manyshots, 21, are both charged with kidnapping, uttering threats, sexual assault causing bodily harm and assault causing bodily harm.
The brothers stood side by side as they appeared in court via closed circuit television from the Calgary Remand Centre, where they are being kept segregated from each other.
The men now have a lawyer and are applying for funding through legal aid. Their next court hearing was set for Friday.
Their parents were at the Calgary Courts Centre for Monday’s brief hearing but did not speak to the media.
Hundreds of people showed up for a rally on Friday night in Taradale in a show of support for the victim.
