Winnipeg's cold snap is turning more into a long embrace.
It'll be sunny again today but the high will only reach –8 C. And it's not going to get a whole lot warmer than that anytime soon.
The long-range forecast calls for temperatures between –5 C and –8 C well into next week. The normal daytime high is –1 C.
And if you're heading out to the Santa Claus Parade on Saturday, bundle up. It should be on the cool side with a high of –8 C and windy, cooling down to –10 around 5 p.m. when the parade commences.
Cloud and snow return Sunday with a high of –5 C.
CBC Manitoba meteorologist John Sauder says to expect occasional light snow (between 2 cm to 3 cm) on Sunday, with winds blowing in from the northwest in the 50 km/h to 70 km/h range by 6 p.m.
Blowing snow and poor visibilty could be an issue in open areas.
