Guelph police say they've received 32 reports of stolen bicycles in October, and have already had four reports come in for November.
Police say the bikes were stolen from residences, schools and workplaces. Investigators say in many of the cases, the bikes locks were cut.
Marta Generoux, the store manager of Ziggy's Cycle in Kitchener, says its important for cyclists to invest in a high-quality lock and to park their bike in a well-lit area with foot and car traffic going by.
"You're looking for a lock that's going to be durable, as well as one that's going to be able to withstand the test of time," said Generoux. "Something that's a little bit thicker. I would shy away from a cable and I would use either a U-lock or a Bordo (folding) lock."
