Several tenants of a north end Halifax property were evicted Thursday after the city declared the property unsafe.
Residents of 2179 Gottingen St. arrived home to find a lock on the door and a notice posted ordering residents to vacate the property.
Inspectors toured the structure earlier this week and found deficiencies with the wiring, structural problems and fire code issues.
The building is a shared residential and commercial spot. Courtney Marshall-Sylliboy is one of the people who had just a couple of hours to leave the building.
She had just moved in on October first and had just paid her rent for November. She doesn't think she'll be getting her rent money back and she has no idea where she'll be living now.

Marshall-Sylliboy says the building was in terrible condition.
"Both of the windows in the kitchen are broken they fall out all the time. The steps going up to the second floor are horrible and the steps to the third floor are even worse. They're very steep, very uneven, they're horrible," she said.
Marshall-Sylliboy said her power was constantly flickering on and off. She was told it was from mice chewing on wires.
There is some help for tenants. The Nova Scotia Department of Community Services along with other agencies are putting some of the displaced tenants up in a hotel for tonight. They are also are trying to find other places for them.
Adding to the problem is the fact the women's shelters in the Halifax area are full to capacity.
The property’s registered owner is Hasan Yildiz. The notice posted on the door of the building says he could be liable for any costs the city faces in cleaning up the property.
