Voters in the Rural Municipality of West St. Paul have re-elected Bruce Henley as their mayor, edging out Dan Garcea following a campaign dogged by a controversy over the local fire hall.
Henley secured 1,216 votes in Wednesday's municipal election, while Garcea had 1,160 votes, according to unofficial results from Manitoba Votes.
The CBC News I-Team reported last week that Garcea, who was a municipal councillor, is under investigation by the Manitoba ombudsman, who is looking at whether conflict of interest laws and regulations were properly followed in the $3-million fire hall project.

Henley said the fire hall controversy may have played a role in an attack he experienced outside his home last year.
