Jennifer Egan has said that her novel, A Visit from the Goon Squad, was inspired by two sources: Proust and TV's The Sopranos. Eleanor Wachtel speaks with the Pulitzer-prize winning American writer about how that very strange combination works. It's been described as a surprising, polyphonic tour de force.
