Sarah Leung, the Vancouver woman convicted of two counts of infanticide in April, showed little emotion in court Monday as the Crown asked for a sentence of eight years in jail.
Leung, 28, hid her two pregnancies, fearing the reaction of her father, who was described at trial as "abusive and controlling".
The court also heard that Leung delivered the baby boys into the toilet in the family home, disposing of them in plastic bags in the garbage.
Her father discovered the first baby's body in a clear plastic bag outside the home in 2009 and the police were called. The second child (born a year later) was never found, but believed to be buried in a Delta landfill.
Her partner knew of the pregnancies, but Leung told him she had miscarried.
The Crown is asking for three years in prison for the first count of infanticide, and five years for the second.
Crown Attorney Sandra Cunningham says Leung carried out the crimes strictly in her own self-interest, believing she would be disowned if her family learned of her pregnancies.
