Michael Moore announced his desire to run Canada's biggest city Monday during a visit to the Toronto International Film Festival.
"I could run for mayor of Toronto," said the acclaimed documentary filmmaker, who is attending a 25th anniversary screening of his landmark movie Roger & Me.
The political provocateur also joked about meeting the city's recently-subpoenaed leader.
"The first thing I said to Rob Ford was you and I need to go for a long walk, with ankle weights, before you have an ankle bracelet."
Moore said he believes Toronto elected Ford because Canadians have a peculiar sense of humour.
"They just like funny up there. This is the land of Jim Carrey and John Candy and SCTV." Moore also quipped that Canadians are probably tiring of the punch line.

Torontonians go to the polls on Oct. 27.
TIFF runs through Sept. 14.
