Consignment auto companies have 14 days to pay sellers
The Better Business Bureau has suspended the accreditation of a Calgary used car dealership.
Treadz Auto Group takes care of the showings and the sale of vehicles for a consignment fee.
Joanne Toller needed to sell her 2005 Audi and began looking for a company who could help.
“I actually picked Treadz because they had been in business a little bit longer than any of the other ones,” she said.
Seller wants money
The car sold in June for $12,000, but Toller has yet to see any money.
“I've talked to them several times and they keep promising that the money is coming, but it hasn't come. “
The Alberta Motor Vehicle Industry Council said consignment companies have 14 days to pay the cash.
CBC News contacted Treadz Auto Group, but the calls were not returned.
Accreditation suspended
A quick look at the company's profile on the Better Business Bureau shows nine complaints in the last year.
Treadz Auto's accreditation was suspended on Friday.
Southern Alberta Better Business Bureau president Sandra Crozier-McKee said it's a shame as the company had a good track record until recently.
“Communication has really broken down. We're unable to get their response to the pattern of complaints and … the complaints are all very similar,” she said.
Toller wants her money back, along with the $300 consignment fee.
