Jahanbakhsh Meshkati ID'd as Burnaby, B.C., homicide victim

The 46-year-old died in hospital after being shot several times on Sunday night

An Alberta man who had recently moved to Toronto has been identified as the victim of a fatal shooting in Burnaby, B.C., on Sunday.​
Jahanbakhsh Meshkati, 46, was shot several times just after 10:30 p.m. PT near 19th Avenue and Second Street. He died in hospital.
Sgt. Jennifer Pound said Meshkati​ was known to police, but the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) continues to look into a motive. There have been no suspects or arrests made.
Meshkati moved from Alberta to Toronto a couple of years ago. It is not clear why he was in B.C.
