Alfie MacLeod's left foot removed due to 'serious infection'

MacLeod plans to resume his MLA duties as soon as possible

Cape Breton MLA Alfie MacLeod’s left foot has been removed as a result of a serious infection.
The details of the infection haven’t been released, but MacLeod is expected to make a full recovery.
“I want to thank my constituents for their patience during this time,” he said in a news release. “Everyone’s kind words of support and encouragement have been very uplifting. I am committed to a full recovery and resuming my MLA duties as soon as possible. ‎I look forward to seeing you all soon."
MacLeod’s office remains open with regular business hours during his absence.
MacLeod, 58, represents the district of Sydney River-Mira-Louisbourg. He is receiving treatment at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital‎ in Sydney.
