Thunderstorms, hail hit rural areas in southern Alberta

Storms brought dark skies, strong winds and hail in areas north of Calgary

Environment Canada meteorologists tracked several thunderstorms Wednesday night that were capable of producing strong wind gusts, toonie-size hail and heavy rain in southern Alberta.
Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued in areas north of Calgary, but ended around 8:30 p.m. MT.
"Take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches," said the national weather agency on its website.
"Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes."

CBC Calgary weather specialist Vickie Chase says southern Alberta will see weather that is "cool and a little unsettled" over the next few days.
