Al Duerr is to meet with a federal official later Tuesday to discuss next years' G-8 Summit in Kananaskis.
The Prime Minister announced this weekend the 2002 Summit of the leaders of the worlds' most prosperous nations would be held at the resort west of Calgary.
Calgary's mayor says he wants more detail about the summit. "To date there hasn't been any communication so we just don't really know what the proposals are," says Duerr.
"We've seen certain things in the paper, we've seen the Prime Minister indicate he would like to see a much smaller, scaled-down event, 35 delegates versus 700 they had from the United States. The logistics around an event like that would be very different."
Duerr says the big concern is what impact the summit will have on the city, especially in terms of security costs.
