Assiniboine Park Zoo to reopen July 3 for exhibit's grand opening
Sunday was the last day to see Winnipeg's Assiniboine Park Zoo before it closes for 10 days so staff can put the finishing touches on the Journey to Churchill exhibit.
The zoo is closed starting Monday in the lead-up to the exhibit's grand opening on July 3.
Journey to Churchill will feature polar bears, Arctic fox, muskoxen, snowy owls and seals in expansive new habitats, as well as underwater viewing tunnels and a state-of-the-art Aurora Borealis Theatre.

Visitors to the zoo will have to pay more when it reopens — adult gate admission will go up from $10.24 to $18.50, not including GST.
The gate fee for seniors and youth (aged 13-17) will go up from $8.24 to $14.81, while the fee for children between the ages of three and 12 will go up from $6.62 to $10.
Gate admission will be free for children under the age of three. Zoo officials are changing the free admission age from two to three.
