A century-old home in Calgary started a new life at a new location Sunday.
The Catholic diocese had planned to bulldoze the McHugh House, located in the 100 block of 18th Avenue S.W., to make way for developers.
However, the city managed to secure a last-minute deal to save it using a $450,000-grant.
Movers hauled the historic home to a nearby park, where it will be restored for public use.
The 118-year-old property is listed as the sixth oldest residence in the city.
It was built for John Joseph McHugh, one of three brothers who moved from Ottawa to become prominent ranchers and pioneers in the Calgary area.
