RCMP's Emergency Response Team responds to reports of violence in home
RCMP in Clearwater, B.C. surrounded a home Monday night and brought in Emergency Response Team members and a police helicopter after reports a man had barricaded himself inside a home.
A tense standoff ensued. There are now unconfirmed reports a woman is dead following a domestic dispute.
Local resident Daryl Huff tweeted pictures Monday from the scene of an event he said was highly unusual for Clearwater.
He says police had tape around two residences — a house in the south of Clearwater where there was only a small police presence and a house in a remote wooded area north of Clearwater where the man had apparently taken refuge.
"I saw lots of RCMP, tactical units, a helicopter also landed and was up and down flying in the area," Huff told CBC News shortly before the standoff ended.
There are unconfirmed media reports from the scene that three children were also involved, but unharmed.
The RCMP released very little information except to confirm earlier Monday that a "police incident" was underway.
