Olympic silver medallist Kaetlyn Osmond says she was delighted to see her hometown of Marystown name its arena and a local street after her.
"It's unbelievable. It's a dream come true for me and I couldn't feel more honoured for it," Osmond said during an Easter weekend homecoming that involved a parade and two sold-out figure skating performances.
Mayor Sam Synard presented Osmond with a symbolic key to Marystown.
Osmond said she is thrilled by the honours, which include seeing the stadium where she first trained turned into the Kaetlyn Osmond Arena. A local road is being renamed Kaetlyn Osmond Drive.
Osmond, 18, a two-time Canadian women's champion, shared a silver medal in the team skate at the Sochi Olympics in February.
Osmond took time on the weekend to speak with young fans.
"To pursue anything, you've got to have fun with it and to just never give up on it," she said.
Osmond will tour this spring with Stars on Ice, followed by a rest and then a return to training and competition.
