RCMP have charged Gerald Rushton with two counts of first degree murder
RCMP have charged a 47-year-old man with two counts of first degree murder after two women were found dead at a Bible Hill, N.S., home Friday afternoon.
Gerald Rushton was arrested by police at the scene, but taken to hospital because he was injured.
Police said Sunday that Rushton was released from the QEII Health Sciences Centre on Saturday night and that’s when he was formally charged.
The victims of the homicide are Elizabeth MacPherson, 54, and Brittany MacPherson, 24.
RCMP Cpl. Scott MacRae said Ruston and Elizabeth MacPherson lived in the home together. He wouldn’t say what the relationship is between the two victims.
Police headed to the scene on Pictou Road around 3 p.m. Friday after getting a 911 call where there was silence on the line.
They found one woman dead in the home, and arrested Rushton. Officers looked around the rest of the property and that’s when they found the second victim.
Rushton is now in custody at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility. He is due in Truro provincial court on Monday.
