Law Society of Saskatchewan accuses her of 'conduct unbecoming'
A well-known Regina lawyer has been suspended by the Law Society of Saskatchewan on a number of grounds, including allegedly misappropriating funds.
Pauline Duncan Bonneau's interim suspension pending an investigation went into effect Dec. 11, according to the Law Society's website.
Duncan Bonneau, who's been a divorce and family lawyer for three decades, is not entitled to practice law until further notice.
The Law Society says it has reasonable grounds to believe she may be guilty of conduct unbecoming a lawyer.
She's accused of:
She's accused of:
- misappropriating $19,800 from her trust account by depositing a cheque she created into her personal bank account.
- misappropriating $14,879 from an estate by claiming a fee she allegedly wasn't entitled to.
- fabricating documents sent to the Information Services Corporation.
- taking fees exceeding $70,000 on two estates, but not remitting income tax, GST or PST and
- attempting to mislead the Law Society by providing it with a trust ledger that she had allegedly altered.
None of the allegations have been proven.
CBC News called Duncan Bonneau for comment, but she wasn't immediately available.
