Matt Hill proposed to Kate McNair with a ring containing asphalt
A Vancouver Island woman got more than she expected after finishing the Victoria Marathon for the first time on Sunday, when her boyfriend proposed at the finish line.
Artists Kate McNair and her now fiancé Matt Hill - an avid runner who has completed over 400 marathons - have been dating for almost a year and a half.
The engagement ring Hill had made is as unique as the proposal. Instead of diamond, it contains McNair's favourite stone, turquoise, and a piece of asphalt from the couple's first run together.
