Reid guilty of attempted murder

Ex-con and author Stephen Reid has been found guilty of one count of attempting to murder a police officer, following a botched bank robbery in Victoria in June.
He was acquitted on three other charges of attempted murder.
The verdicts came after Reid testified at his trial today, that he wasn't trying to kill anyone when he fired several shots during his get-away.
He told the judge he was high on heroin, and only fired the shots in an attempt to stop the police from chasing him.
He admits the shooting was reckless and crazy, but denies it was a murderous attempt. Reid had already pleaded guilty to charges of robbery and unlawful confinement .
He will be sentenced the week of December 13th, after the judge gets a psychiatric report.
