Critics of provincial cost-cutting say the reduced funding is already being felt
Students and staff at Mount Royal University were outside the school Wednesday afternoon protesting budget cuts to post-secondary education in Alberta.
The school has been in session for two weeks, and already the impact of provincial funding cuts are noticeable, said one of the protesters, assistant English professor Michael Truscello.
He wants the Redford Government to realize how important post-secondary school funding is to voters.
"We remember her election promises regarding the support of higher education. And we hope that she will at some point live up to those promises."
The government's March budget reduced post-secondary funding by nearly seven per cent, chopping $147 million in operating grants for colleges and universities.
