Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. has launched an oral history section on their website.
Interviews with people involved with the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement negotiations are now available online.
"This project presents very valuable historical material and provides detailed first-hand information about a turning point in Canadian history," said Cathy Towtongie, Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. president, in a news release. "This tells the story of how Nunavut came to be, and I am honoured to launch this."
Historical photos are also included among the materials posted, and they're available in English, Inuktitut and Inuinnaqtun.
Nunavut Tunngavik also plans to launch a project to name people in the photographs. The organization also wants to have a formal presentation where people can listen to the recorded interviews collected during the project.
