Pukatawagan man charged in 8-year-old sister's death

RCMP have charged a 20-year-old man from Pukatawagan, Man., with second-degree murder in the death of his eight-year-old sister earlier this summer.

Skye Midnightsun Bighetty was found unresponsive on June 29 in the basement of the family home(external link) in the northern Manitoba community. She was pronounced dead at a nearby nursing station.
The child's death has been attributed to foul play, RCMP said in a release.
The man, who police identified as Skye's brother, was arrested and charged on Friday.
The RCMP did not release the name of the man. He is in custody and will make a court appearance in Winnipeg on Saturday.
