Council to decide next week whether to give city traffic engineer more lee-way on snow events
A council committee voted Wednesday to tweak Calgary's snow route parking ban system.
Currently the ban can be declared any time there's more than five centimetres of snow.
When a snow event is declared, no parking is allowed on streets marked as snow routes.
The committee has voted to drop the five-centimetre rule and leave it to the city's traffic engineer to determine when a parking ban is declared.
There will also be daytime or overnight parking bans, depending on the route.
The proposed changes will go to city council for a vote next week.
