The changes keep on coming for the beleaguered Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The team on Monday introduced Marcel Bellefeuille as its new offensive co-ordinator and quarterbacks coach, after dumping Gary Crowton on the weekend.
The team’s head coach Tim Burke said the decision to replace Crowton came down to numbers.
"We want to score more points," said Burke. "Without disparaging anybody, you know, we might have had too many reads for our quarterbacks and asked them to do too much."
Bellefeuille, who was just brought in last week as a consultant for the team, is the team's third offensive co-ordinator in three years.
He has his work cut out for him — the Bombers were the lowest-scoring team in the CFL last year and are near the bottom of the league in many offensive categories this season.
"I didn’t want to do this position when I came here. This is not the reason I came," said Bellefeuille. "I wanted to consult the rest of the season and help and make things better. It’s always a challenge coming in mid-stream."
The Bombers lost their fifth-consecutive game, a 37-18 pounding by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last Friday in Winnipeg, which dropped their record to 1-6 on the season.
Bellefeuille said a decision will be made Tuesday about who will be the starting quarterback in Saturday's game, which is a rematch with the Tiger-Cats, this time in Hamilton.
