A university student from Regina, Camille Munro, was named Miss World Canada on the weekend.
It's the first time in 50 years a winner was from Saskatchewan.
Munro was one of 35 women who participated in the event.
She returned home Monday, brimming with excitement over the experience.
"I'm really excited because a lot of the people, judges included — some of them — didn't know a lot about Saskatchewan," Munro said. "They don't know anything about our province and I think we have so much to offer, so I'm really happy that I can wear the crown for the next year and really engage Canadians in what's in Saskatchewan and let them know that we're not just a cold province in the winter. We have a lot more to offer."
In September, Munro will travel to Indonesia to represent Canada at the Miss World Pageant.
