B.C.'s Independent Investigations Office is looking into a fatal motorcycle crash between Okanagan Falls and Penticton Saturday night.

RCMP told the IIO that an officer on patrol saw a speeding motorcycle on East Lake Road around 9 p.m. PT.

The Mountie said he then activated his emergency overhead lights and attempted to catch the speeding bike, but lost sight of it.

The IIO was told he found the motorcycle after it crashed about a kilometre down the road.

One person died and another was critically injured in the crash.
