Windsor West NDP MP Brian Masse says second and third floors a 'very sad state of affairs'
As CBC Windsor was first to report, the state of the Canada Post office on Sandwich Street on Windsor's west end shocks NDP MP Brian Masse.
A concerned resident brought the potential problems at the Olde Sandwich Towne office to Masse's attention. He then toured through the building himself.
Piles of insulation, exposed window frames and rafters are upstairs, he said.
"It's in a very sad state of affairs," Masse said. "It has some good structural features. But this to be a heritage building, occupied by the federal government, and to be treated in such a manner is shocking to say the least."
Masse says the federal government should be held responsible. He's also sent photos to Canada Post.
"If we have money for fake lakes, gazebos, and all kinds of other things, then we have money for our federal buildings," he said.
The building is listed for sale by CBRE agent Brook Handysides. The asking price is $250,000.
Masse has contacted Canada Post, and will be in touch with the federal government, too.
