Toronto Mayor Rob Ford had an unexpected visitor on Wednesday when comedian Dave Chappelle dropped by his office.

Chappelle visited the mayor to ask if he could smoke during his performance at the Winter Garden Theatre later in the evening, according to the mayor's office. Under city bylaws, smoking is not permitted in most indoor public spaces.

It's not immediately clear what the outcome of the meeting was.

Ford's encounter with Chappelle comes less than a month after he feted two other comedians, Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis, at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.
