Torontonians craving ice cream can have it delivered to them anywhere in the downtown core today with the help of a car service app.
Uber, the San Francisco-based company that offers an app that allows people to request chaffeured cars(external link), is rolling out the on-demand ice cream service today in seven cities across North America, one of which is Toronto.
Between noon and 6 p.m., Torontonians in the downtown core can download the free app and select the location that they want ice cream delivered to. The app will provide users with an estimated time of arrival and show up with a minimum of five ice cream orders.
Those who want to make use of the service —which is being offered in honour of National Ice Cream Month in the United States — will have to pay for at least $12 worth of ice cream.
As for the type of ice cream people can order? It's "classic novelty ice cream — we’re talking Klondike and soft serve, people," according to a post on the Uber blog(external link).
The service is only in effect today, Friday July 13.
