Oppositions parties continue to pepper Premier Alison Redford with questions Tuesday over her involvement in a lucrative government contract that was awarded to her ex-husband’s law firm.
During Question Period, Alberta Liberal Leader Raj Sherman asked whether Redford considered the optics of her ex-husband’s firm being chosen to represent the province in a lawsuit against the tobacco industry.
"Premier, didn't you consider that there would be at least the appearance of a conflict of interest?" Sherman asked.
Redford has repeatedly denied having any part in the decision, saying she had stepped down from her role as justice minister to run for the party’s leadership. That denial continued Tuesday.
"Mr. Speaker, there was nothing for me to recuse myself from because I didn't make the decision," she told MLAs.
On Monday, Speaker Gene Zwozdesky ruled that Redford did not mislead MLA when she said the decision had been made by her successor.
However, documents obtained by the CBC suggest that she had a hand in choosing the firm.
