RCMP hitch tow bar to missing McCanns case

RCMP are now looking for information from someone who did work on a vehicle owned by a missing St. Albert couple.
Police want to identify the person who modified the tow bar Lyle and Marie McCann used to attach their SUV to their motorhome.
Police won't say why or how the A-Frame towing assembly is connected to the case.
Lyle, 78, and his wife, Marie, 77, went missing on July 3, 2010 after leaving St. Albert, Alta., bound for British Columbia driving a 1999 Gulf Stream Voyager RV towing a 2006 Hyundai Tucson.
Their motorhome was found July 5, 2010 southeast of Edson, Alta., completely destroyed by fire. The SUV was found nearby 11 days later.
Before 2006. the tow bar assembly had been mounted on Lyle McCann's 1988 Dodge Ram 50 pickup truck.
On March 31, 2006 Lyle McCann purchased the light green Hyundai Tucson and had the tow bar modified to fit the new vehicle.
Police believe the tow bar was modified by a welder or hitch company in the Edmonton area.
The couple's son, Brett McCann, said RCMP have been asking about the towbar since the fall.
Police have asked around at several St. Albert garages, but haven't found who did the work, he said.
Despite hundreds of tips, numerous ground searches and pleas to the public, police have been unable to discover what happened to the couple.
