Calgary police have arrested a man and woman in the death of six-year-old Meika Jordan, who died last November after sustaining severe injuries at her home on Temple Drive N.E.
Police say charges are pending against both of them, whose names have not been released.
Calgary police say the little girl's injuries sustained last November were not consistent with what family members claimed when they said she fell down a flight of stairs.
The death was declared a homicide(external link) when an autopsy discovered she died from multiple blunt force trauma.
Police now say they believe she may have received other injuries(external link) prior to her death, including a severe burn to the palm of her hand and fingers.
All the injuries occurred while she was in the sole care of her biological father and stepmother, according to police.
