Work on Fox Tower to begin later this year
The developer behind the ICON condos on downtown Edmonton's 104th Street is planning a new development just one block north.
Langham Developments is hoping to start construction on Fox Tower later this year on the northwest corner of 104th Street and 102nd Avenue, one of the last parcels of undeveloped land in a section of downtown going through a massive transformation.
Fox Tower — actually two towers — will be similar in look and design of the ICON's brick and glass facade.
"It's equally attractive if not more attractive," said Langham Developments president Reza Mostashari. "ICON plays with a lot of curves on the balconies and the structure. Here we try to make them look interesting, but playing with more angles."
The 27 and 32-storey towers will combine retail shops on the ground level, with office space above and condos on top, a total of 320 units.
"I love that street when I first started to spend some time there a few years ago," said Mostashari. "I just thought it had some interesting vibe to like restaurants, retail stores so, hopefully, ICON added to that.
"I love to continue to make it better."
Mostashari believes there is enough demand for more condos downtown.
"This is probably the best location for a condo building downtown," he said. "Our pricing has to be aggressive, it has to have good design, good finishes.
"I think if you meet all those attributes, hopefully, the market will respond."
