Two people have been charged in the death of Salmon Arm, B.C., resident, Tyler William Myers — a case that sat unsolved for almost four years.
Myers, 22, was found dead on the Bastion Elementary school yard on the evening of Nov. 21, 2008.
Police later revealed he had died of a gunshot wound, and they believed it was a targeted attack.
On Monday, Mounties arrested a 20 year-old man and a 21-year-old woman in Vernon and Salmon Arm. They have both been charged with first-degree murder.
The two cannot be identified because they were minors at the time of Myers' death, but police say the three knew each other.
"Each of our investigators believes that murder victims deserve to have their case solved, no matter how long the file takes," said Insp. Gary Shinkaruk, from the E Division Major Crime Unit.
"These charges illustrate their dedication and hopefully will help Tyler’s friends and family."
RCMP said the investigation continues, and more charges are possible.
