A Calgary home in the community of West Hillhurst has been ordered closed for 90 days because of alleged drug activity.
An investigation into the home started in 2009 when the Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods Unit received complaints about alleged drug-related activity, according to officials.
Calgary police say the property has been an ongoing problem.
Glenn Stuart with the SCAN unit says the landlord was well aware of the problems, which mostly stemmed from a tenant in the house.
"She had warning letters," he said. "I spoke to her personally on numerous occasions, and I warned her not to continue her association with this tenant. It's not our goal to put fences around houses and usually when comes to a fence it's because it's the worst of the worst."
Stuart said the landlord didn't listen and moved the tenant back in the home. He said two more drug warrants were conducted at the property before SCAN applied for a community safety order to put a fence around the property for 90 days.
The home located at 2220 Bowness Road N.W. must be vacant starting Friday and any rental agreements or leases to the property must be terminated.
It will now be up to police to lay criminal charges.
