The city’s latest homicide victim died of a single gunshot wound to the chest, Toronto police confirmed Monday.

Police say that paramedics were called to an apartment near Yonge Street and Highway 401(external link) on Saturday night, where they found a man "suffering from an obvious gunshot wound."
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police later identified 28-year-old Hussein Hussein as the victim.
On Monday, they confirmed the victim, who was known to police, had died of a single gunshot wound to the chest.
Police also made an appeal for witnesses to come forward.
CBC News has learned that Hussein previously spent time in Alberta, the province where his mother lives.
On Monday, friends and family of the deceased were gathering at the Toronto apartment where Hussein’s grandmother lives.
The victim’s mother was flying back to Toronto from Alberta.
His father, Abdirizik Hussein Gedi, was making his way back to Toronto from Somalia, where he is running in a provincial election.
