Friends say Brian Ludwig, 41, died after taking a single punch
Friends are identifying the Calgary man killed Sunday after reportedly being punched outside a bar as Brian Ludwig.
The 41-year-old died shortly after police were called to the parking lot of Swigs Pub, where they found him suffering from severe head injuries just before 3 a.m. MT Sunday.
He was taken to hospital by EMS, where he died a short time later.
The pub had hosted an annual charity golf tournament earlier in the day at the River’s Edge Golf Course in Okotoks.
Ludwig was reportedly part of that tournament and was taking part in a party afterwards at Swigs.
Amazing guy
Friends described Ludwig as an "amazing guy" and a "caring family man." They say he was married with children.
Several people who were at the pub say there were only about a dozen people left by the time of the incident.
They say Ludwig was in the parking lot when he was punched and fell to the ground.
One witness says when he ran outside to see what was happening the man was unconscious.
Police are interviewing a 27-year-old man in connection to Ludwig's death.
They're asking anyone with information to come forward.
