The province's commissioner in charge of conflicts of interest admits his office erred in failing to disclose payments that Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall received from his party.

Ron Barclay said the oversight meant the Office of the Conflict of Interest Commissioner didn't publicly disclose the $37,000 a year that Wall is paid by the Saskatchewan Party. The funds are on top of Wall's $154,000 taxpayer-funded salary.

While Barcley's office noticed the money, it failed to disclose the Saskatchewan Party as a source of income.

Barclay, who has served as commissioner for a year, said the omission was made every year stretching back to at least 2007. He promised to fix it immediately.

"It was disclosed in the statement from the Saskatchewan Party, and when we picked it up we missed it," Barclay said. "It was way back on the 10th page, and it was our mistake."

On Tuesday, Wall said his annual $37,000 top-up payments from the Saskatchewan Party were meant to recognize the "extra duties of party leaders." He described the money as an "allowance."

However, the party is not listed as a source of income on Wall's disclosure statements in the legislature.
